The Warriors are undoubtedly the most dominant team in the NBA of the last decade. Golden State made it to six NBA Finals in twelve years. This year is their sixth time.
Joe Lacob, the owner of the Dubs, compared the success that his team had under him to that of the Buss family and the Lakers. Both teams made it to the NBA Finals 50% of those years.
Via Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports:
“That is our goal,” Lacob said. “Our goal is to be perennially really good at challenging for a title. Otherwise, there’s no point in doing this.”
“I’ll give you a statistic that I think is just the most unbelievable statistic,” Lacob says. “The Celtics are great. Jerry Buss owned the Lakers for 33 years. Does anybody know how many Finals he made in 33 years? Sixteen out of 33 years. Now that is remarkable.
“We’ve now made six in 12 years. So, I love the 50-percent rate. Whether we’ll continue that, I don’t know.
“But I’m sure as hell gonna try.”
