What you need to know about the Wizards

On Tuesday, the Wizards outlasted the Oklahoma City Thunder, 122-118. Kyle Kuzma had 29 points in addition to five rebounds and he’s averaging 27.7 points in January. Spencer Dinwiddie posted a double-double on 22 points and 10 assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit a tiebreaking three-pointer with 30.8 seconds left in the game.

The Wizards are 17-4 in clutch situations, which are games decided in the final five minutes with a point differential of five points or fewer. However, they will be without their best player as Bradley Beal is in the league’s health and safety protocols for the second time in three weeks. But the Wizards have played well without Beal as they are 5-2 when the three-time All-Star does not play.

What you need to know about the Magic

Orlando took a 102-100 loss to Washington on Sunday. Cole Anthony finished with 12 points on 4-for-17 shooting in his 35 minutes on the court. The Magic were outscored 29-15 during a seven-minute stretch in the fourth quarter and just couldn’t recover from that. Terrence Ross scored 32 points for Orlando, which has not won a game since Dec. 22.

Mo Bamba (toe) and Wendell Carter Jr. (hamstring) are out for Wednesday’s game, leaving the Magic shorthanded up front. Jalen Suggs (thumb) may be able to return on the three-game road trip that starts on Wednesday as the No. 5 overall pick has not played since Nov. 29. Despite losing nine straight games, Orlando has managed to cover in four of those contests.
