NBA DFS: James Harden and top FanDuel, DraftKings daily Fantasy basketball picks for Jan. 29, 2022

The 2021-22 NBA season is past its halfway point and NBA daily Fantasy players are starting to get a better feel for things after rosters were ravaged by the latest outbreak of COVID-19. Targeting totals is still a commonly used NBA DFS strategy and two games stand out in Saturday’s six-game slate, with Grizzlies vs. Wizards listed at 230 and Warriors vs. Nets at 229.5. But you still have to understand the matchups to effectively put NBA DFS stacks into play and set winning NBA DFS lineups.

Ja Morant has had at least 30 points and has produced at least 54 points on both FanDuel and DraftKings in each of his last five games, and that will make him one of the more popular options in the NBA DFS player pool for Saturday. But affording upper-echelon talent like Morant, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and Joel Embiid will mean that you have to find cheaper options to stay under the salary cap. Before finalizing any NBA DFS picks, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Friday, McClure included Suns forward Cameron Johnson as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Johnson had 23 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals to return 8x on FanDuel and nearly 9x on DraftKings. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Saturday, January 29, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Saturday, January 29

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Mavericks guard Jalen Brunson, who is listed at $6,100 on DraftKings and $5,600 FanDuel. Brunson is starting in the backcourt alongside Luka Doncic in Dallas and he’s played at least 30 minutes in each of his last six games.

The former Villanova star is coming off of one of his best performances of the season, putting up 20 points, 11 assists and six rebounds in a win over the Trail Blazers on Wednesday. Brunson is averaging 15.8 points and 5.6 assists per game for the season and is shooting 50.1 percent from the floor and you’ll definitely want to consider him for your NBA daily Fantasy lineups while he’s hot in a matchup against the Pacers.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Nets guard James Harden ($11,200 on DraftKings and $10,200 on FanDuel). With Kevin Durant (knee) out and Irving still limited to road games, Harden has had to carry a heavier load for the Nets of late and it’s a role that he’s more than comfortable with after winning multiple scoring titles in Houston.

Harden didn’t play on Wednesday because of a hamstring injury, but he is expected to return to the lineups against the Warriors on Saturday and he’s had two 30-point triple-doubles in his last three starts. After a relatively slow start to the year, Harden is now averaging 23.0 points, 10.1 assists and 8.1 rebounds per game, and he’s a safe bet to stuff the stat sheet again on Saturday in a marquee matchup against Golden State.

How to set your NBA DFS lineups for Saturday, January 29

McClure is also targeting a player who could go off for massive numbers on day because of a dream matchup. This pick could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.
