The highly relegation endangered 1. FC Nuremberg has released a few hours after the separation of sports director Andreas Bornemann and his coach Michael Kllner. As the club announced on Tuesday, club legend Marek Mintal and former co-coach Boris Schommers will temporarily take over the bottom of the Bundesliga.

The 49-year-old Kllner had recently won 15 Bundesliga games in series with Nuremberg, in the last nine competitive matches, there were eight defeats. The club is bottom of the table with twelve points after 21 games, but is only three points behind the relegation place. Kllner had taken over the club on March 7, 2017 by Alois Schwartz. In the season 2017/18 he had led the Nuremberg to the eighth Bundesliga promotion of the club’s history. (Sid)
