Berlin –

The Berlinale moves back to its 70th issue in the calendar. The festival takes place from February 20 to March 1, 2020, as the Berlin International Film Festival announced on Monday. There have been discussions about the time of the festival. State Secretary Monika Grtters (CDU) recently said in a dpa interview: “The Oscars have been published several times over the past few years, and unfortunately it has always somehow affected the Berlinale, sometimes with more distance, sometimes less.” Maybe With a small date shift to the back you avoid this dilemma.

The previous festival director Dieter Kosslick will not hold the management in the coming year. The new bosses of the festival are Carlo Chatrian, Artistic Director, and Mariette Rissenbeek, as Managing Director. Both will take over the direction of the festival from 2020.
