US rappers in custody
:Trump criticizes Sweden for indictment of ASAP Rocky
US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Sweden in the dispute over imprisoned rapper ASAP Rocky. He was “very disappointed” about the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lfven, Trump wrote on Thursday in the short message service Twitter. “Sweden has failed our African American community.”
The US would do “so much” for Sweden – but the other way around is obviously not, Trump wrote. He demanded “freedom” for ASAP Rocky. US citizens would have to be treated “fairly”. At the same time, Trump called on Sweden to focus on its “real crime problems”.
The US rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayer, is in Sweden for remand in custody.
Brought action against ASAP Rocky and companion
On Thursday, the prosecutor brought charges of assault against the 30-year-old and two companions. The process should begin next week. Trump wrote on Twitter that he had seen the videos of the incident.
ASAP Rocky has been “persecuted and harassed” by “troublemakers.” The US president had already phoned Prime Minister Lfven in the case and offered him to bail for ASAP Rocky with a “bail or an alternative”. Lfven then referred to the independence of the judiciary. (Afp)
