Drama in the Allgu
:13-year-old travels with tractor two children
Tragic end to a summer alpine excursion: not far from the Allgu resort of Balderschwang, two children were hit by a tractor on Saturday evening and killed. They were together with a third child in a mounted on the tractor front transport container reported police on Sunday.
When driving over a bump, a ten-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were thrown out of the container and overrun by the tractor. Although another 12-year-old girl remained physically unhurt, she was severely traumatized. At the wheel of the tractor, a 13-year-old sat, the police said.
Tractor rides on the site of the alp are common
According to the Balderschwang mayor Konrad Kienle, the children had taken a day trip to the approximately 1000 meter high Lenzenalpe together with their parents. The two families came from the 25 kilometers remove Riefensberg in the Bregenz Forest and be friends with the operators of the Alpe. During such visits, tractor rides on the Alpe private property have been customary in the past, Kienle reported.
“The boy drove on the private path of the Alpe. That’s why the jaunt of the 13-year-old was by no means illegal, “said the mayor. Since the way was “brettlflach” and there are no major danger spots, such tractor spraying with the 13-year-old at the wheel would have represented no particular danger. “The boy has done this 100 times, without the previously even what has happened,” said the head of the parish.
Whole area is affected and very sad
Nevertheless, the whole thing is of course an incredible disaster. It was terrible that a summer trip ended in such a tragedy. “It was a terrible sight for the helpers and those who were affected. The whole area is affected and very sad, “said Kienle.
The accident happened near a forest near the idyllic Lenzenalpe. On their website, the operators promote the popular mountain destination as a “family-friendly summer alp”. As an “ideal and easy to reach hiking destination” it is also suitable for families with small children. The mountain farming family, which is present throughout the summer, keeps goats, pigs and chickens next to cattle on the Alpe near the Riedberger Horn. (AP)
